Searching the Roanoke Court Docket
Begin a Roanoke docket search at Indiana MyCase. Select Huntington County rather than relying on the town name. The official selector may still expose the abolished Huntington/Roanoke Town Court, so a search result must be read as either a legacy 35I01 record or a current Circuit or Superior record. A case or citation number gives the cleanest path. A name can work when it is paired with status, filing dates, and category.
Public searching is free and anonymous. MyCase can combine converted history with current Odyssey events, may show a CAPTCHA, and caps results. Search exact facts first.
- Select Huntington County, then choose the Case, Name, or Attorney tab.
- Use an exact case number, citation, cross-reference, party name, business name, or bar number.
- Review 35I01 only as a possible archived Roanoke court result.
- For a current matter, verify 35C01 or 35D01, the caption, status, and latest setting.
- Call the Huntington County Clerk when the court code or file status remains unclear.
The county clerk can confirm whether the official Chronological Case Summary, or CCS, is archived or active. The online display is not a certified court record.
Roanoke's Abolished Court Code
The strongest Roanoke search warning is 35I01. The official Odyssey list labels Huntington/Roanoke Town Court as abolished, yet the option remains visible because old records can still be stored in the system. Official judicial history places abolition on December 31, 2012. The residual selector is a route to history, not proof that a live Roanoke court accepts new cases.
- Abolished
- The court no longer operates or accepts new filings.
- Archived
- A record retained from the former court.
- Converted
- Older information moved into the current case system.
- Current
- A case assigned to an active county court.
Use the case date, event history, and court code together. The clerk should settle any conflict.
Roanoke Municipal Court Basics
Roanoke Town Court was abolished at the end of 2012. No current Roanoke municipal court or town-court filing office appears in the official state court list. The county's 2023 report records zero town or city court judges. A present-day Roanoke infraction, ordinance, small-claims, criminal, or civil docket therefore points to Huntington Superior or Circuit Court under the county allocation rules.
Superior ordinarily receives stand-alone infractions and ordinance violations. Both active courts are courts of record, and one elected county clerk maintains their files. Roanoke Town Hall is a civic office, not a replacement court clerk.
Roanoke Legacy Selector Trap
The MyCase court list can show both Huntington County and the legacy Huntington County - Roanoke Town Court choice. Select Huntington County first for a matter that arose after abolition. If a precise old citation or case number produces 35I01, keep the result as a possible archived match and call the clerk before requesting a copy.
Name and business searches offer sounds-like matching, filing dates, category, and All, Open, or Closed status. The Case tab accepts a case number, citation, or cross-reference. The Attorney tab accepts a name or bar number. A Roanoke place name is not a guaranteed search field, so the visible caption, court code, and event dates must carry the match.
Court Dates and Settings in Roanoke
A Roanoke setting found under 35I01 is historical unless the event itself predates abolition. A current setting should identify Huntington Circuit or Superior. Read the latest CCS entry, not just the first date in a result. A later continuance or order can move a hearing, and a converted event may preserve only part of the older town-court detail.
| Date | The newest scheduled day, checked against later entries. |
|---|---|
| Time | The listed start, which may cover a docket call. |
| Court | Current 35C01 or 35D01, or archived 35I01. |
| Status | Open, closed, converted, reset, or disposed. |
| Setting Type | Initial hearing, pretrial, trial, compliance, or review. |
Confirm any current Roanoke date with the county Clerk at (260) 358-4817 shortly before appearing. Town Hall cannot confirm a county judicial setting.
Roanoke Town Hall Comparison
The Town of Roanoke publishes Town Hall contact information at 141 W Third Street, Roanoke, Indiana 46783, with phone (260) 672-8116. That office is the right source for town meetings, local services, notices, and municipal records. It does not maintain the current county CCS.
| Record | Custodian | Search clue |
|---|---|---|
| Town notice or meeting record | Roanoke Town Hall | Department and date |
| Archived town-court case | County Clerk | 35I01 and old case date |
| Current court matter | County Clerk | 35C01 or 35D01 |
One event can yield both town and court documents. Request each layer from its own custodian.
Traffic Tickets in Roanoke
A Roanoke ticket can be searched in Indiana ePay by UTT, driver-license details, or name and birth date. Read the returned court and case number. ePay is not the CCS, and its payment function does not show every filing or setting that may exist in MyCase.
The county deferral form still displays Roanoke Town Court in its dropdown, another stale label that can suggest the abolished court is active. Verify the court before sending a form or payment. Current ordinary infraction and ordinance cases appear to route to Huntington Superior. The county traffic-ticket record page gives the deeper payment and contest routes.
When Roanoke Tickets Look Current
A portal label can outlive the court it names. When “Roanoke Town Court” appears, compare the ticket date, case number, and court identifier. A new ticket should not be treated as a new 35I01 filing merely because a dropdown still contains that text. Save the UTT and search it in both ePay and MyCase.
If the systems disagree, call the county Clerk and state that the source displayed an abolished-court label. Ask which active court holds the case and whether a deferral request belongs with Superior. Do not send a court filing to Town Hall. Roanoke staff can route town records, but only the court custodian can confirm a CCS or current judicial deadline.
Where Roanoke Cases Go
Old Roanoke town-court records remain associated with 35I01. New matters use the active county courts. Stand-alone infractions and ordinance violations ordinarily route to Superior, while Circuit and Superior split criminal and civil work under local rules. The code on the filed case, not the town where an event happened, identifies the court.

The county docket overview covers those active courts in greater depth. An appeal from a current case normally proceeds through Indiana's appellate system.

Reading a Roanoke CCS
A CCS is the dated event history maintained by the court. It may list filings, settings, orders, service events, and disposition. An archived Roanoke record may contain converted text rather than a full image of each old document. A docket entry proves that an event was recorded; it does not guarantee that the linked pleading or exhibit is available online.
Read from the newest event backward when the goal is a current status. For a historical Roanoke case, read forward from the filing date so the old town-court sequence stays clear. Terms such as “disposed” describe the case status, not the fate of each charge or claim. A reset moves a setting and does not dismiss the matter. If the needed order has no link, ask the clerk whether it can be inspected or copied.
Roanoke Record Request Routes
A useful Roanoke request begins by naming the record, custodian, and date range. For an archived 35I01 case or a current 35C01 or 35D01 case, give the Huntington County Clerk the case number, court code, document name, and approximate filing date. Ask whether the record is online, available at the courthouse terminal, held as paper, or restricted from public access. The counter at 201 N Jefferson Street is the in-person route. A phone call to (260) 358-4817 can confirm routing before a trip, and the clerk can direct a written or mailed copy request.
For a town ordinance, council minute, utility notice, or other Roanoke civic record, start with Town Hall at 141 W Third Street or (260) 672-8116. State the department and date rather than asking for a “court record.” A police agency record and a court filing are also separate items, even if they concern the same citation. Indiana's Access to Public Records Act may guide an agency-record request, while the Rules on Access to Court Records govern the judicial file. Neither process turns a confidential court record into a public one.
No dedicated Roanoke docket portal, town-court email feed, public dropbox, vendor search, or bulk municipal feed was found. MyCase, ePay, the courthouse terminal, the clerk's formal process, and Town Hall form the documented channel set.
Before a courthouse trip, ask if an archived Roanoke file is stored on site. Bring the 35I01 number, old citation, or date range. For mail, confirm copy cost, certification, payment, and delivery. A legacy hit may point to paper or converted text rather than an online image.
Roanoke Court Record Access Rules
Indiana presumes access to court records, but public does not always mean online. MyCase can show public Roanoke case information and some documents. The courthouse remains the route for old town-court material or documents not posted remotely, and the county clerk supplies official copies. Roanoke municipal records use the town's own records channel.
Key Rules:
Indiana Access Rule 1 sets the access presumption, privacy balance, and tailored restrictions.
Indiana Access Rule 5 identifies excluded cases, confidential data, redaction duties, and protected addresses.
Indiana Access Rule 9 provides a court process to seek extraordinary access.
Channels include MyCase, ePay for tickets, the courthouse counter, the Clerk by phone at (260) 358-4817, and a written request. Town Hall at (260) 672-8116 handles Roanoke civic records. No current municipal docket vendor, filing office, email feed, dropbox, or bulk city service was found.
